With freezing temperatures ahead in the forecast the City of Tukwila is encouraging community members to use caution. A full list of available warming locations is available at the King County Regional Housing authority website. Local sites in and near Tukwila include:
Existing Daytime Public Spaces (No Services):
- Southcenter Mall (2800 Southcenter Mall, Seattle)
- Southcenter Library (1386 Southcenter Mall, Tukwila)
- Tukwila Library (14380 Tukwila International Boulevard, Tukwila)
Existing Daytime Public Spaces (No Services):
- SeaTac Community Center (13735 24th Ave S.)
- Valley View Library (17850 Military Road S)
In addition, Riverton Park United Methodist Church (RPUMC) staff has let city officials know that temporary warm spaces will be provided during the upcoming cold snap. According to information provided, solutions include a combination of local shelters, hotel rooms and the indoor areas of the church facility. “It’s critical during these type of weather events that we work together to protect everyone is our community, including our most vulnerable,” said Tukwila Mayor Tom McLeod. “In particular, I want to thank the church and our other community partners for coming together and helping find warm shelter spaces for everyone.”
