Election Day
August 7, 2018
You can vote and return your ballot as soon as you receive it. Returning your ballot early allows time to correct any issues with your signature so we can count your ballot. You can return your ballot by mail or to a ballot drop box.
Ballot drop boxes
Return your ballot to a ballot drop box, no stamp required. Your ballot must be returned to a ballot drop box by 8 p.m. election day. Plan ahead to avoid lines.
By mail
No stamp needed to return your ballot! You can vote and return your ballot through the U.S. Postal Service as soon as your receive it. Your ballot must be postmarked by Election Day.
Accessible voting centers
King County accessible voting centers (AVCs) are available to voters who need assistance completing their ballot. Trained staff and specialized equipment are available to help voters with disabilities cast a private, independent ballot.
Emergency Return
In an emergency, you can ensure your ballot is received by the Election Day deadline and that your vote is counted by completing this two-step process:
- Return your ballot packet materials by email or fax by 8 p.m. on Election Day. The materials that must be returned include your ballot and your signed declaration, on your return envelope or on a printed declaration page.
- Email your ballot packet as an attachment to return.ballot@kingcounty.gov. You can take a clear and legible picture of your ballot packet pages with a digital camera or smart phone. Do not send a link. File size cannot be larger than 10 MB.
- Fax your ballot packet to 206-296-4499.
- Return your printed paper ballot packet with signed declaration by mail by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 20. It must be received by this date and not postmarked by this date.
If we do not receive your printed ballot packet, in addition to the emailed or faxed ballot materials, your vote will not be counted.
