Earth Day Art, Photo & Video Contest due by Mar 7

Recology and the City of Tukwila are announcing their second Earth Day Contest for Tukwila students, this year titled, Project Recycle Right.
How do you reduce waste, reuse items, and/or recycle correctly? Share a drawing, photo, photo of an art piece, or a short video (60 seconds or less) that you created telling us about your experience embarking on Project Recycle Right. You can win up to $300 for your submittal! Winning entries will be shared on City of Tukwila and Recology websites, social media, and featured in an Earth Day news release. Entries are due by Friday, March 7th at 12:00 PM.

On November 1, 2023, the City of Tukwila started a 10-year waste hauler contract with Recology. Recology provides garbage, recycling, and food & yard waste services. SOLID WASTE DISCOUNT
The City of Tukwila provides a solid waste discount for homeowners or renters who pay for garbage and or food & yard waste collection services and meet eligibility requirements.
Qualified residents will receive a 50% discount off their solid waste bill. Once approved by the City of Tukwila Public Works Department, the discount will be applied to the next billing period. Retroactive discounting is not available.
To qualify for the solid waste collection discount, you must meet all the following criteria:
- At least one of the owners/renters in the house must be 62 years old or older and/or disabled.
- Your total annual household income, from all sources, must be less than $52,700 if in a one-person household or $60,250 if in a two-person household (50% of the Area Median Income.)
- You must be an owner or renter and reside in the City of Tukwila.
