CIPP (CBD) Sewer Rehab

Project Overview

The Cured-In-Place Pipe (CIPP) is a trenchless technology used to rehabilitate or repair existing pipelines without the need for extensive excavation. Instead of open-cut replacement, CIPP involves inserting a resin-saturated liner into the damaged pipe. The liner is then cured in place, creating a new, durable pipe within the existing one. This method is preferred in situations where minimizing disruption, cost, and environmental impact is crucial, as it eliminates the need for extensive digging and excavation commonly associated with
traditional open-cut methods. This minimally invasive method cannot be used in all scenarios and only works on sewer and stormwater mains. The City will be rehabbing nearly 8,000 feet of sewer mains throughout the City’s service area, including the CBD. The pipes lined vary in size from 8” to 24”. The process includes using steam or UV light to cure the liner. Construction is expected later in 2024 and is estimated to be complete early 2025.
