Tukwila Community Leadership Initiative

Do you want to know how local government works?

Through learning opportunities and making connections, you will have a better understanding of how to get involved and make positive changes.

 

TIME COMMITMENT

  • Attend a 7-week program:
    • Regular sessions on Tuesdays, October 15, 22, 29, November 5, 12, 26
    • Tukwila City Council Meeting at City Hall on Monday, November 18, 7-9pm
  • Each regular session is from 6-8pm at the Sullivan Center in Tukwila Village and includes a meal
  • $560 compensation upon completion of the program; one excused absence allowed

 

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

  • Those that live or have a business in the City of Tukwila are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
  • Be able to sign the City of Tukwila documentation complete a W-9 form to receive compensation.
  • Must not be running for, or currently serving in, a political office.
  • Attend all of the required meetings to receive a certificate of completion and compensation.
  • Complete a survey following each session. The survey helps to measure success and informs the program.

  • Increased understanding of local government
  • Increased involvement in community groups and/or local government
  • Increased sense of inclusion and belonging
