Celebrate Fall and Tukwila’s Newest Public Art

Tukwila’s Public Art Program and the Tukwila Arts Commission invite the community to join us as we celebrate the city’s newest public art pieces.

What: Artist Talk
When: Wednesday, October 9th, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.
Where: Tukwila Community Center, 12424 42nd Avenue South

In 2024, Tukwila Parks & Recreation commissioned three artists to create murals for its storage container, turning the mundane into the beautiful!

The event will be held outside the community center. Tents with firepits will be set up, creating a cozy celebration of the fall season. Canela Mexican Café will provide complimentary light refreshments (mini churros and a choice of hot drink: Café Horchata, Dulce de Leche Macchiato, Mocha Mexicana, and Café de Olla).

Event Program:

Artist Talk: Artists will discuss their creative process, inspiration, and the meaning behind their pieces. Attendees will be able to ask questions and learn more from each artist.

“Mushroom Celebration” Jean Bradbury

“My Wild Grandmother” Gabrielle Abbott

“Supreme” Ilana Zweschi

Musical Guest Stacy Jones: award-winning Seattle singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Stacy Jones will provide an acoustic set after the talk, while guests can mingle, talk to the artists, and enjoy the early fall evening.

Art Activity! Past Utility Box Artist Nalisha Estrellas will lead an all-ages art activity. To get everyone excited for the fall season, guests can decorate their own mini pumpkins to take home!

In the event of rain, the Artist Talk will be held inside the Tukwila Community Center.
