Big weekend lane reductions on southbound I-5 start in July for Tukwila, SeaTac and Des Moines
Drivers should plan a strategy now for weekend work on a project to rehabilitate southbound Interstate 5 south of Seattle. Starting July 8, drivers will see the first of five weekend lane reductions on southbound I-5, with sections reduced to two lanes from 10 p.m. Fridays to 5 a.m. Mondays each weekend.

Uphill eastbound lane of the South 129th St bridge is closed for repairs
On Saturday, the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) bridge inspection team found a deteriorated timber pile cap on the South 129th St bridge that needs to be replaced immediately.
Vacancy on the King County International Airport Roundtable
The Tukwila Community Representative position on the King County International Airport Roundtable is currently vacant. The Roundtable provides advice, oversight and assistance to the Airport Director, King County Executive and King County Council on the airport budget, programs, regulations, master plans, noise reduction strategies and other related matters.
No lead found in Tukwila water source
Due to the recent news coverage around the country of lead contamination in drinking water, the City has been receiving questions from concerned community members about the safety of the drinking water here in Tukwila.
Tukwila is a member of Cascade Water Alliance and receives it’s water from Seattle Public Utilities (SPU). SPU tests our water source regularly and Tukwila is not aware of any galvanized water services with lead gooseneck fittings.

The King County Noxious Weed Program has scheduled a FREE knotweed control workshop at the Tukwila Community Center on May 26th, 6:30 – 8:30pm, where property owners can learn safe and effective control methods that can eliminate this troublesome species.
New pavement, smoother drive coming to SR 900 in Tukwila
On Monday, April 4, contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation started work on a $3.2 million pavement-preservation project on SR 900. The project will repave portions of SR 900 with new asphalt, replace broken concrete panels and completely rebuild a failing section of the road.
