Backyard Wildlife Festival

| FREEThe Backyard Wildlife Festival is a free, all-day event to educate and inspire people to welcome wildlife – such as birds and butterflies – into their backyards, gardens and communities! The event features presentations from local experts, along with a variety of educational exhibitors, arts & craft vendors, speakers, and native plant sales. Don’t leave kids at home, there is plenty to keep the entire family entertained and excited, like the Kids Garden Party area. This year’s schedule includes:
10:00 am: Backyard Wildlife Festival & Marketplace opens
10:00 am: Kid’s Garden Party Begins
10:00 am: Bird Tour with Rainier Audubon
11:00 am: Backyard Composting for Healthy Soil by Rowan Maya Lang
12:00 pm: Planting for Pollinators, Give Beauty and Bees a Chance by Marianne Binetti
1:30pm: Garden Talk with Ciscoe

Also on May 13th are two special park dedication events, the City of Tukwila will celebrate the Duwamish Gardens Project and Phase II of Duwamish Hill Preserve. The Duwamish Gardens Project dedication will begin at 9:00 a.m. and is located at 11269 East Marginal Way in Tukwila; at 10:00 am the dedication for Duwamish Hill Preserve Phase II will begin – located a short walk across the street from Duwamish Gardens. A free shuttle will be offered, departing from the Tukwila Community Center (TCC) beginning at 8:15 am and will operate through 11:15 am. Return to TCC for the Backyard Wildlife Festival to enjoy speakers, food, shopping and more.
