City of Tukwila Blood Drive

About 30% of all newly diagnosed cancers in women each year are breast cancer. When a friend, coworker, or family member is diagnosed with cancer, we seek ways to help. Donating blood through Bloodworks Northwest is an immediate and essential way to help cancer patients receive care at hospitals and cancer centers across the Pacific Northwest. About 25% of the blood supply is used by patients battling cancer. That’s because chemotherapy can damage red blood cells and platelet production, making blood transfusions a vital part of cancer treatment that only comes from volunteer blood donors. In one hour, you can make a difference in the lives of people affected by cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to highlight the importance of research on the disease, mourn the ones we’ve lost, and do our part to help people who are fighting now. Among the many powerful procedures, medications, and operations involved in cancer treatment, one essential element that only volunteer donors can provide is blood.
