About: Armen proudly considers Tukwila his hometown, having been a former student at Tukwila Elementary School and an alum of Foster High School. Throughout the years, he has witnessed Tukwila change, and is dedicated to ensuring its ongoing prosperity. Armen has actively engaged and served the community through local non-profit organizations, programs, and various initiatives.
Education: Earned Bachelor in Political Philosophy and Economics from University of Washington Tacoma and Master of Public Administration from Seattle University
Interests: Enjoys spending time with family and friends. He is an avid skier, skater, tennis player and traveler. If you can play an instrument, he will also join and sing with you.
Community Service: Armen has organized advocacy efforts in partnership with WSA (Washington Student Association) and UW Impact to boost financial aid to students throughout the state, winning an $18.5 million increase in State Need Grant (SNG) funding for income-eligible students. The bill ensures that Washington state has a skilled and qualified workforce decades to come.
He serves as the President of the Tukwila Children’s Foundation. He has led efforts to combat food insecurity during the pandemic, securing $55,000+ from the Safeway Foundation and Albertsons Companies Foundation bringing necessary dollars to Tukwila. Some of these acts went to support the Tukwila Parks & Recreation Park n’ Play Program, Still Waters Summer Program and the Tukwila Pantry Food Bank.
Armen wants to persue innovative ideas while maintaining fiscal responsibility, enforcing city code, encouraging development, addressing homelessness and mental health care regionally.
