How To Pay
Utilities may be paid online, in person, over the phone, by mail, or via Autopay.
Online Utility Billing
This service allows utility customers to check account balances, pay bills, view transaction history, and examine usage information.
Getting Started:
- Click on the Pay Utility Bills Online link.
- Using a recent bill for reference, fill in first and last name, address of service location and e-mail address.
- Select a user name and password. Password must be at least 6 characters.
- To finish registering as a Utility Customer enter the account number, last name of primary account holder and click on register.
- Using the drop down box, view account summary, make payments, view account history and view a usage chart.
- Under the “My Profile” tab update user information as needed.
- To pay utility bills, click on the “Make Payments” located in the drop down box. Enter appropriate information in all the fields and click on “Make Payment” box.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Customers facing shut-off should contact City of Tukwila Utility Billing directly instead of paying online to ensure your payment is received in time to avoid being shut-off and incurring additional charges.

If a heat-related alert is issued by the National Weather Service, and your water is turned off due to non-payment, please contact the Finance Department at 206-433-1849 for possible water reconnection. Limited to residential accounts and those served by the City of Tukwila.
Pay in Person
Bring payments to the Finance Department at Tukwila City Hall, 6200 Southcenter Blvd., Monday or Wednesday between 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Finance Department accepts Debit/Credit card payments through VISA and MasterCard. Payments may also be dropped off in the after-hours Drop Box located to the right of the City Hall entry door marked “Drop Box for Utility Payments.”
Pay over the Phone
Payments can be made by Debit/Credit through VISA and MasterCard over the phone by calling the Finance Department at 206-433-1835, Monday through Friday between 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.

Sign Up for Autopay
Funds will be taken out of the customer’s bank account on the 10th of each month.
Note:
- Bills are typically sent out the last day of the month.
- The meter reader cannot accept payments.
- Please do not slip payments under the door after hours; please use the Drop Box located to the right of the City Hall entry doors.
- The City does not accept third party checks.
Utility FAQ
If I have a water leak, can I receive an adjustment on my utility bill?
If high consumption is due to a leak, a potential credit adjustment can be made on the bill. Please see both the policy and leak adjustment request form for more information.
Where does Tukwila’s water come from?
The City of Tukwila buys its water solely from the City of Seattle.
Is there fluoride in the water?
Yes
What do I do if I think my water consumption is too high?
Contact the Finance Department at 206 433-1849 and list possible reasons.
When do utility bills get mailed?
Bills are typically sent out the last day of the month.
How do I get my water turned on for new service or what if I have a question about my bill?
Billing inquiries and requests for new service can be directed to the Finance Department at 206 433-1849. Any changes regarding billing address or changes in ownership can be submitted by completing the Online Utility Change Form.
Is there a reduced utility rate for senior or disabled citizens?
Yes. You must be 62 years of age or older or permanently disabled and meet certain criteria. Follow this link to review/print the affidavit.
What happens in an emergency situation such as a leaky water meter, NO water, broken pipes or flooding of residential streets or businesses?
Contact the Public Works Department between 7:00 am and 3:30 pm at 206 433-1860. If the situation occurs after hours and cannot wait until the next working day, please call 911.
What if my water suddenly tastes or smells funny?

Who do I contact regarding new construction for water/sewer service or temporary water meters?

Water Rates (Meter charge plus consumption):
The minimum meter charge for Single Family and for Multiple Family (condo, apartment or dwelling unit) is $21.50.

Commercial/Industrial – A minimum charge of $57.02 per meter for up to 750 cubic feet of consumption plus $57.02 per each additional 750 cubic feet or fraction thereof.
Single Family – Each single family dwelling will be charged a flat rate of $32.00 with no additional charge for consumption.
Multiple Family – Each condo, apartment, or dwelling unit will be charged a flat rate of $32.00 with no additional charge for consumption.
Interest Charge – Late water/sewer payments incur an 8% per annum charge computed on a monthly basis.
Sewage Treatment Rates:
The City Metro charges as required by the Agreement for Sewage Disposal between the King County Metropolitan Services and the City of Tukwila are set at a flat rate of $55.11 per single family dwelling. For multiple family and commercial/industrial accounts, there is a minimum charge of $55.11 per meter for up to 750 cubic feet of consumption plus $55.11 per each additional 750 cubic feet or fraction thereof.
Storm & Surface Water Maintenance Rates:
Single family residences are charged $226.00 which is now on the King County Property Tax statements as a separate line item. Individual parcels will be classified into rate categories depending upon the percent of developed surface on the parcel. Those parcels with more development will pay a higher rate per square foot. Developed is anything that is not green and growing (including land totally submerged in water).
FIRE LINE CHARGES (where it crosses property from public to private):
The rate for private fire protection lines (building sprinkler systems/hydrants) shall be deemed service charges and shall be, for any one month or fractional part thereof, as follows:

Interest Charge – A charge of 8% annum computed on a monthly basis on water/sewer accounts more than 30 days in arrears (40 days from previous month’s bill).
Shut-Off Notice Fee – A charge of $30.00 for all water service customers who are more than 60 days in arrears and a “Shut Off Notice” is posted at the property.
Turn-On Fee – A $50.00 turn-on fee for water service to be restored when the customer is responsible for the shut-off.
Name Change Fee – A charge of $20.00 will be assessed to accounts if there is a change in owner, tenant, and/or third party paying agent.
Utility Leak Policy
The Utility Leak Policy offers a procedure for how charges can be adjusted when excessive water consumption has been caused by a water leak. This applies to water, sewage, and treatment charges for single family and non-single family homes.

Utility Tax Relief Program
The City of Tukwila operates a Utility Tax Relief Program. This is an annual rebate program for low-income seniors 62 or older, and disabled low income residents.
Criteria for Eligibility
- Must be at least 62 years of age or disabled
- Must have combined income of less than $46,500 or less than $32,000 if single
- Must be a Puget Sound Energy or Seattle City Light customer
Required Information for Tax Relief
- Must provide copy of their Income Tax Return
- Must provide copy of latest Puget Sound Energy and/or Seattle City Light statements that show both customer name and account numbers
- Must complete front & back of application available in the Finance Department at City Hall or printable from the City’s website.(see below)

Payment Process
